Job Description:
Traveling Alarm Technician – Fire Alarm, Access Controls & Low Voltage Systems:
This is a travel-heavy role requiring up to 75% travel from your home location.
We are seeking motivated, dependable Alarm Technicians to support service, troubleshooting, and specialized installations focused on fire alarm, access controls, and low-voltage systems throughout the state of Oregon. Travel typically occurs in 2–3 week rotations, unless otherwise specified. A company vehicle is provided, and both day and overnight shifts are required—comfort with night work is essential.
Technicians in this role will work extensively with fire alarm, access controls, and low-voltage systems in commercial environments. Travel will generally be 4–6 hours from your home, with hotels, fuel, and daily per diem fully covered.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage systems, including fire alarm and access controls
- Run and terminate low-voltage systems cabling in commercial buildings, including concrete drilling, conduit bending, and pathway installation
- Complete wiring, terminations, and device installations for fire alarm, access controls, and other low voltage systems in accordance with project specifications
- Install, repair, upgrade, and commission fire alarm systems based on building plans and electrical drawings
- Mount and wire devices such as sensors, panels, readers, and notification appliances for fire alarm and access controls
- Test and verify fire alarm, access controls, and low voltage systems to ensure full operational performance
- Troubleshoot new and existing low voltage systems installations to ensure functionality, code compliance, and reliability
- Perform inspections and testing to confirm fire alarm and access controls meet local codes and legal requirements
- Collaborate with team leads and project managers to complete low voltage systems projects on schedule
- Support documentation and closeout activities related to fire alarm, access controls, and low voltage systems
Requirements – All Levels:
- Field installation experience within security environments, including fire alarm, access controls, and low voltage systems
- Strong hands-on experience working with fire alarm and access controls in commercial settings
- Ability to work at heights using lifts and ladders
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, and low-voltage systems drawings
- Experience with multiple access controls and intrusion detection manufacturers preferred
- Ability to assist with planning and technical design of fire alarm and low-voltage systems
- Proven installation and troubleshooting experience with fire alarm systems (Bosch, Honeywell, Silent Knight, Kidde, EST, DMP, etc.)
- Proven installation and troubleshooting experience with security systems (Lenel, Avigilon, Genetec, Softwarehouse, AMAG, AXIS, etc.)
- Strong communication skills when working with customers, project managers, and technicians on access controls and low-voltage systems
- Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm and access controls, both on-site and remotely
- Comfortable using computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones for low-voltage systems documentation
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Fire alarm license where required by local jurisdiction
Requirements – Lead Technician Level:
- NICET I or higher (strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing fire alarm, access controls, and low-voltage systems projects
Compensation:
- $25–$40 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and interview performance
