Job Description:

The AV Lead Technician is responsible for leading field installations, overseeing technical execution, and ensuring successful project delivery from rough-in through final commissioning.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity paying $30–$35 per hour. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with proven experience installing, troubleshooting, and commissioning AV systems while managing small to mid-size crews in commercial environments.

You will serve as the on-site technical authority, coordinating workflow, supporting project management, and ensuring installations meet scope, timeline, and performance expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead AV system installations from start to finish, including rack builds, device installation, cable pulls, terminations, and system commissioning

  • Supervise and direct field technicians and subcontractors to maintain production and quality standards

  • Read and interpret AV drawings, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, and construction documentation

  • Install and oversee installation of displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, control systems, and network-based AV components

  • Troubleshoot system issues efficiently and implement corrective solutions in real time

  • Coordinate with project managers and other trades to maintain schedule alignment

  • Ensure proper labeling, cable management, and rack organization standards

  • Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to junior technicians

  • Maintain accurate site documentation and daily progress reporting

  • Promote a safe, professional, and organized job site environment


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience leading commercial AV integration projects

  • Strong knowledge of AV systems, signal flow, rack builds, displays, projection systems, and control platforms

  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting integrated AV systems

  • Ability to read and execute from construction drawings and system schematics

  • Experience managing field crews on active commercial job sites

  • Working knowledge of IP-based AV systems and basic networking concepts

  • OSHA certification preferred

  • Industry certifications such as CTS, Crestron, Extron, Biamp, or similar are a plus

  • Strong communication skills and leadership presence

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on ladders or lifts
