Structured Cable Technician
Job Description:
We’re hiring experienced Low Voltage Technicians for long-term, high-rise commercial construction projects. These are large-scale builds in downtown urban cores—ideal for skilled techs who take ownership of their work and thrive in fast-paced, team-driven environments.
We’re looking for individuals with a strong background in structured cabling, fiber or copper terminations, and commercial installations. Job Overview:
As a Low Voltage Technician specializing in structured cabling and security systems, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and service of low voltage infrastructure in high-rise buildings—office towers, residential towers, and mixed-use developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Structured Cabling & Infrastructure:
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cabling in new construction high-rise environments
- Perform tenant improvements and troubleshoot existing cabling systems
- Install racks, patch panels, wireless access points, and network hardware
- Build out IDF/MDF closets, and install pathways using j-hooks, ladder racks, and innerduct
- Ensure all cabling is clean, organized, labeled, and in compliance with NEC, ANSI/TIA, and site standards
- Interpret blueprints, submittals, and riser diagrams to execute cable pathways and device locations
- Complete job documentation including timesheets, daily reports, and test results
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working on commercial high-rise towers, office complexes, and large multi-floor projects
- Fiber splicing and OTDR testing skills a plus
- Termination of Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber (SC, LC, ST)
- Proficiency in installing and labeling faceplates, device IDs, and cable trays
- Familiar with finish work and trim-out in polished commercial interiors
- Experience with security devices such as cameras, access control panels, and motion sensors is a plus
Requirements:
- 1+ year of structured cabling or low voltage experience (willing to train entry-level candidates with the right attitude)
- Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders and lifts
- Clean background and ability to pass a drug screen
- Availability for 40+ hours per week
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly pay: $25–$32/hr based on experience and interview
